Teaching people to swim is a priority at the Y. We offer swim lessons for all levels beginning at 6 months through adult. Learn to swim - it's a critical life skill. Membership is REQUIRED for swim lessons. Please refer to SWIM CLASS DESCRIPTIONS for more information (attached below).

NEW REGISTRATION POLICY
Lottery numbers will be handed out beginning 15 minutes prior to the registration start times. Arriving early to line up will no longer be necessary or an advantage.
PRIORITY REGISTRATION - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2017 9:00 - 11:00AM
For Spring and Summer swim lesson participants only. BRING YOUR PROGRESS REPORTS, and have membership renewal forms printed off before registration.
RETURNING REGISTRATION - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2017 - SEPTEMBER 15TH 9:00AM
For all current and previous swim lesson participants only. If your child was not in Spring or Summer lessons, he/she MUST be tested prior to registration date for proper placement.
OPEN REGISTRATION - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH 9:00 - 11:00AM
Open to everyone on a first come, first served basis. Child MUST be tested prior to registration date for proper placement.
You can register for swim classes at the front desk after the initial registration is complete. Bring your progress report or test evaluation. Any registrants wishing to switch classes may do so beginning September 18th with the aquatic director's approval. There is a $15 and up administrative fee for changes after initial registration.
Any child who did not participate in spring or summer lessons MUST BE TESTED prior to registration. Pre-registration is REQUIRED. Testing is not required for Skips I or II & Pikes. NO WALK-INS. Following are the testing dates - your child should come prepared to swim:
Saturday, August 12th: 12:15 - 1:15PM
Monday, August 14th: 4:00 - 5:30PM
Wednesday, August 16th: 4:00 - 5:30PM

A Greater Morristown YMCA Membership is required. No class changes or withdrawals can be made after the first week of the session. There are no make-up classes, nor do we give credit for individual classes missed regardless of reason (weather, illness, etc.) We reserve the right to change or remove any child from his/her registered swim class if we believe they have been enrolled in the incorrect level. We reserve the right to cancel classes if there are not enough registrants. Bathing suits are required for all classes. Shorts, tank tops, etc. are not acceptable for the pool.
TIPS FOR A SMOOTH REGISTRATION DURING OUR RENOVATION
• Bring your progress report
• Bring your membership renewal (get it from the front desk the week before)
• Paying with cash or check will be quicker than credit cards
• No chairs will be allowed outside the building, nor will they be necessary (see new registration policy above)
Improve your muscular strength, cardio-respiratory endurance, flexibility, and muscular endurance.
Benefits of Water Exercise:
Buoyancy lessens impact on joints and thus the risk of injury
Water cools the body during exercise, to avoid overheating
Warm water increases blood circulation and promotes healing of injured tissues
Warm water relaxes tight muscles and increases join motion
Please note: Current pool schedules are located at the Front Desk. These classes run continuously throughout the year with occasional breaks during holiday weeks.
Shallow Water Exercise Class
An enjoyable fitness class that features conditioning and resistance training in shallow water (waist to chest deep). Non-swimmers welcome. Water shoes are highly recommended. FREE with membership.
Deep Water Challenge
This program uses vigorous movements in deep water, guaranteed to give you a great work-out with low impact. Participants must be able to swim and feel comfortable in deep water. Aqua belts are required and provided. Participants must wear own water shoes. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Free with Membership.
This class is for people seeking low-impact exercise to help alleviate pain and stiffness. A certified instructor leads range of motion, stretching, breathing exercises and light aerobic exercises. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Free with membership.
